Israeli~American Miracle

Here is how the Lord answered our prayers:

During the Iranian missile bombardment upon Israel, my mom and son couldn’t return to Indiana for a few weeks. On March 20th, my mom, son and I were scheduled to fly together from Tel Aviv to Indianapolis, but on March 19th, my mom and son’s tickets were cancelled. The flight was supposed to leave on March 20th at 5:00am.

My mom visiting us in Israel

1. My ticket for the 5am flight remained valid the entire time and was never canceled. Huge answer to prayer!!

2. I expressed my concerns to Ilan and family and said we should all go to the airport packed and ready to fly, and ask everyone we knew to start praying for a miracle.

3. We arrived at the airport at 11 pm, hoping there might be a chance to get my mom and son on an earlier flight. We weren’t even sure if we would be allowed to approach the counter where two women were standing behind the El Al desk. There might have been a police barrier, but we walked up and calmly shared our situation. Their immediate response was that all flights were full. We continued to explain that my mother has dementia and needed to return home to see her doctors. I put my arm around my mom and said, “Mom, we are doing all we can to get you on this flight. Let’s keep hoping.”

Trip to Jerusalem

4. That’s when the younger woman behind the counter asked for my mom and son’s passports. She took photos, wrote down my phone number, and told us they were ending their shift, but the next shift would decide if they could fly from the standby list. She told us to return at 3:30am since the flight was at 5am. At that point it was only 11:30pm.

5. We decided to stay in the car to rest, pray, and wait. While we were standing by the car, this young woman from the ElAl counter (who wrote down my number)came over to us with tears in her eyes. She said, “Your story moved me. I’m incredibly touched, and we will do what we can.”

That moment felt like God reminding us that He is the Waymaker and that He had a divine plan.

6. After about two hours of resting in the car, at 1:30am we received a call from Eti: “Where are you? Come immediately to the counter.” She was the new shift supervisor.

7. We went back inside with our luggage, praying this would be our miracle. This time there were police blocking the counter because people were desperate to fly. As Eti took our tickets to the computer, crowds surrounded her asking for help. She kept telling people there was no availability. After a few minutes, she came back to us and told us where to go to check in our luggage. The desperate people around us were staring, wondering who we were. It felt surreal — like everyone’s focus stayed on Eti while she quietly allowed us to pass through to the next counter.

That’s when we knew God had answered our prayers. We checked our suitcases and received 3 boarding passes for both the NY and Indiana flights.

8. Mom received wheelchair assistance all the way. We said goodbye to my husband and our son Amit, then continued through passports and security. We still had about two hours until boarding, so we prayed again, asking the Lord to keep missiles away and not delay the flight.

9. We boarded on time. Even once seated, we were told to keep our passports in hand in case of a missile alert and possible evacuation. Again, we prayed for God’s protection — that He would keep us safely on the plane and escort us into the sky.

At 5am we took off. During that entire time in Tel Aviv, there were no sirens or missile alerts.

10. The flight was smooth. My mom was so happy to be on the plane. We arrived in New York grateful and praising God for parting the Red Sea for us.

11. We safely arrived in Muncie, Indiana. Seeing my mom back in her home, excited to see her family and church friends, filled us with gratitude. We know God used this story to bless others — to show that He is in control every step of the way, even when we can not see the plan. We saw His divine hand move through the El Al workers and felt His protection over us.

We truly serve a mighty God. I never doubted Him and prayed earnestly that He would provide a way home for my mom and my son —and to make my visit possible and He did.

Hallelujah
